Organic gardening is not a new phenomenon in 2025, and the sales of organic food and drink in the United Kingdom have doubled between 2013 and 2024 (Soil Association, 2025).

Well, I feel so lucky to have been a part of this Hope Spot Snorkelling Residency. Swimming and watching some of the great Argyll underwater world go by for almost a week.

In the summer of 2025, I had the opportunity to work with the estate team at the Kilchoan Melfort Trust.

This is what I did this year at Kilchoan Estate, I had a great time overall which has involved some of my dissertation data collection and other various conservation and estate work.

During my time at Kilchoan I took part in all different types of estate work by helping the garden and estates team with their day-to-day jobs.

My week at Kilchoan had the quality of entering a time warp, a week where time seemingly slipped through my fingers.
